Guest lecture: When doubt lingers despite success – The impostor self-concept in studies and science (Dr. Mona Leonhardt)

Internal surveys and comprehensive studies show that a high proportion of students and employees suffer from the so-called impostor phenomenon, particularly in academic environments. This refers to the inability to accept one's good achievements and successes and attribute them to one's own abilities, as well as the associated fear of being exposed as an impostor and supposedly incompetent.

Content: The lecture includes an introduction to the topic and addresses the effects of the impostor phenomenon with regard to mental well-being. The focus will also be on consequences in relation to studies and career as well as practical implications for the treatment and reduction of self-doubt associated with the impostor phenomenon and the resulting consequences.
You will be given the opportunity to ask questions after the lecture.

Lecturer:
Dr. Mona Leonhardt (Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main) holds a degree in psychology and an interdisciplinary doctorate. She has been researching the impostor phenomenon for several years and has published various articles in national and international journals and given lectures on the subject. She is also co-editor of the Impostor Self-Concept Questionnaire, the German-language method for recording the Impostor phenomenon. She is a non-medical practitioner in psychotherapy, a certified psychological expert and, in addition to her university work, is active as a coach and speaker.
