What is the Solidarity Network Against the Right?
The Solidarity Network Against the Right at FAU (SoliRex for short) was formed at the end of 2024 as a self-organized group of academic staff from various departments at FAU.
The reason for our alliance is the long-standing shift to the right in society, in particular the increasing acceptance and normalization of anti-democratic and inhumane positions in the “center” of society. This also has an impact on universities. Actors across the broad right-wing spectrum are using universities as a battleground for right-wing, reactionary culture wars. The network wants to counteract this.
- Do you encounter students, lecturers, or other university staff who openly express right-wing ideas and promote right-wing positions, e.g., in seminars, events, in the corridors, or in the canteen?
- Have you tried to take a stand against (extreme) right-wing ideas and encountered a lack of understanding within the university or felt alone?
- Have you witnessed a right-wing incident, e.g., a derogatory insult toward another person or racist graffiti?
- Have you encountered people at or around FAU who openly display right-wing symbols?
- Have you experienced something at the university but are not entirely sure whether it is really “right-wing”?
- Are you concerned about this but unsure how to classify it or deal with it?
- But you don’t want to just accept it silently either?
