Content
The goal of the *Aufbauseminar English Linguistics II* is - to continue the linguistic description started in the |Grundseminar| on different levels of structure (phonology, morphology, syntax, etc.), for example by considering the contrastive (English-German) and historical perspective, - to discuss the limitations of the models introduced in the |Grundseminar| (syntax according to CGEL, structural description of meaning through componential analysis, etc.) and to introduce alternative models (valency theory in syntax, description of meaning through prototypes, etc.), as well as - to introduce areas of linguistics which have not found a place in the |Grundseminar| (e.g. lexicography or variational linguistics) *NB In the degree programs BA and L-Gym, the |Aufbauseminar| and the |Basisvorlesung| are examined in a joint written end-of-semester test. Therefore, these courses must be attended in the same semester.*
