This week, as part of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Program, the Institute of Political Science welcomed Dr. Sarah Elsayed from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University.

Dr. Elsayed is an Assistant Professor of Political Science whose research focuses on political development, comparative public policy, and qualitative research methods. Alongside her academic work, she has contributed to policy initiatives in cooperation with the Egyptian Cabinet and international organizations such as UNDP, UNIDO, and GIZ.

With extensive international experience as a visiting scholar and lecturer at universities and institutions in Greece, Spain, the Netherlands, France, and the United States, Dr. Elsayed brought valuable expertise on the MENA region to FAU.

During her stay in Erlangen, she delivered guest lectures in the MA course Animal Politics in the MENA Region and the BA course Political Emotion in the Gulf Monarchies. The visit also included meetings with colleagues from the Institute of Political Science, Vice Dean for International Affairs Prof. Lutz Edzard, representatives of the Faculty’s International Office, and the Erlangen Centre for Islam and Law in Europe (EZIRE). These exchanges strengthened academic ties and provided opportunities to discuss future cooperation between the two institutions.

In addition to student mobility, the Erasmus+ program supports exchanges for academic and administrative staff. Its aim is to foster international cooperation, share best practices in teaching and research, and build sustainable institutional partnerships.
