International Academic Exchange: Visiting Scholars from the Dominican Republic

From 18 to 29 May, the Faculty was pleased to welcome two distinguished scholars from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in the Dominican Republic as part of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Program: Dr. Fari Rosario and Dr. Clara Elena Cruz-Marte.

Dr. Rosario, a specialist in Caribbean literature and Director of Literary Management at the Dominican Ministry of Culture, and Dr. Cruz-Marte, a linguist and inclusive education specialist, former official of the Dominican Ministry of Education, and passionate advocate for the teaching of Spanish as a second language to deaf learners, teacher training, and family support for children with hearing impairments, brought a wealth of expertise and experience to the academic exchange.

During their stay, they engaged with colleagues from the Institute of Romance Studies and students of the Language Centre, sharing insights into literature, sociolinguistics, and sociophonetics through lectures, discussions, and collaborative dialogue. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen the partnership between our institutions and further international academic collaboration. Both scholars described the experience as highly enriching, emphasizing the new perspectives and ideas they will bring back to their teaching, research, and professional practice in the Dominican Republic.

Erasmus+ Staff Mobility

In addition to student mobility, the Erasmus+ program supports exchanges for academic and administrative staff. Its aim is to foster international cooperation, share best practices in teaching and research, and build sustainable institutional partnerships.
