The faculty is pleased to welcome Dr. Andre Pittig who has been professor for translational Psychotherapy at the Institute of Psychology since May. He comes from Würzburg university, where he was head of the research group “Cognitive Control in the Context of Stress and Health” and received the research award of the Faculty of Human Sciences in 2020.

Prof. Pittig studied Psychology in Bielefeldt and was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Further stations at the universities of Mannheim and Dresden followed. His research focuses on experimental psychopathology and psychotherapy and, among other things, on fear and anxiety, where he is examining the mechanisms and modification of approach-avoidance decision conflicts. At FAU, Prof Pittig wants to dedicate his time to one of his research foci, translational psychotherapy, in which psychotherapeutic interventions are studied under controlled laboratory conditions, in everyday life and in clinical application.
