Enriching Teaching and Strengthening International Exchange – Guest Lectures from New Zealand as part of Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility
From 26 to 30 January, Leighton Williams will be a guest at FAU and will give lectures in English at the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology on Māori culture, language, and Indigenous perspectives.
Williams is a Senior Teaching Fellow at Te Tumu School of Māori, Pacific and Indigenous Studies at the University of Otago, New Zealand. The lectures will explore Māori culture and its literary expressions, and will also address Indigenous perspectives on history, society, and colonial structures in the Pacific region.
The visit is taking place within the framework of an Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility, which enables FAU to invite international lecturers. Through Teaching Mobility, staff from partner universities can be invited to FAU to give courses, workshops, or guest lectures. These visits are eligible for funding and can be integrated into existing teaching formats or designed as additional offerings. They make it possible to incorporate international expertise directly into teaching and to open up access to other academic cultures for both students and staff.
Erasmus+ also supports the mobility of administrative staff, for example for professional development, job shadowing, or the exchange of best practices at partner institutions. In this way, the program contributes not only to the internationalization of teaching, but also to the further development of service and administrative structures.
