As part of the Erasmus+ Teaching Staff Mobility program, the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology is pleased to welcome Dr. Hussein Ghaddar from the American University of Beirut (AUB) as a visiting lecturer in early February. He is invited by Prof. Dr. Georges Tamer and his Chair of Oriental Philology and Islamic Studies.

During his stay, Dr. Ghaddar will deliver several lectures held in English that address key aspects of the relationship between the Qurʾān and the Hebrew Bible. The lectures focus on questions of revelation, divine speech, and creation, as well as on the reception and transformation of biblical narratives in the Qurʾān. Through selected examples, shared themes, differences, and dialogical connections between the two scriptural traditions will be explored.

The lectures are integrated into existing courses and are aimed at all FAU students and staff with an interest in Islamic Studies, Theology, Religious History, and Interreligious Studies. They also provide an opportunity for scholarly exchange on methodological and historical approaches to comparative textual analysis.

Dr. Ghaddar’s visit highlights the importance of the Erasmus+ program for international academic cooperation, the promotion of teaching mobility, and the strengthening of interreligious and intercultural perspectives at FAU.
